Once again it has been proven that life without CPD Düsseldorf as an information and orders event – and therefore also a driving force behind the womenswear sector – is simply not possible. Indeed, as one of the four pillars of the IGEDO FASHION FAIRS DÜSSELDORF and with its even more specialised division into the different womenswear segments CPD now presented a new, market-oriented face to the sector and last weekend once again attracted numerous specialist fashion retailers to the city. Around 35,000 trade visitors, 40.2% of whom came from abroad (2005: 30.3%), came to gather information on the new collections for Spring/Summer 2007 and they certainly had more than enough to see here: around 1,090 exhibitors presented their innovations here representing a 20% increase over last year.

DEVELOPMENT Alongside the established core segments Classic Woman, Modern Woman, New Womenswear and Accessories for Order and Direct the CPD event, now extended to include new segments, offered a coherent and clearly structured range with a wide selection of exciting and top trend collections. And the interior and feel of the halls designed to tie in with each of the different segments made for a pleasant working environment plus a unique and tremendous atmosphere.

Getting a Foothold STYLE & SIGNATURES certainly did this in Hall 13. After its dynamic launch in February it now entered its second round with a wider range of trendy "in" labels from throughout the world.
Pioneers like Canterbury of Zealand, Heike Jarick, PBO Group, Soaked in Luxury or Saint Tropez also featured among the 100 brands as did Fiorucci, Baum und Pferdgarten, RWD, Mafia Jeans, Noa Noa and Kookai. Alongside newcomers like Add, Magic Woman and Connemara trading agencies like Michael Heidt, Frankfurt, Fashion Solutions, Düsseldorf, Norbert Gresch, Hamburg, Sportster Two, Offenbach and Günter Passek, Munich were also in attendance with their own lines for the first time.
Norbert Klauser once again used the exhibition hall as a presentation area for his large repertory of labels. Power-packed fashion also came from Switzerland: on its joint stand entitled "Don’t miss the Swiss" with the brands Clover, Nabholz, Seed, Liane and Tide plus the presentation of the Stella Contemporary Fashion Awards this neighbouring country displayed its fashion colours – and its competence!

New Discoveries These were offered in Hall 7 with the international designers in the NEW DISCOVERY segment. Already enjoying long-standing popularity in their home countries, these designers now had the chance to put out their feelers on the German market. This blend of already established brands and utter novelties on the German market made the collections particularly interesting for many specialist retailers.
Names like Julieta Suarez, Salvarte and Lina Cantillo from Colombia may well gain popularity in future as might Oleg Biryukov, Ludmilla Mezentseva and Lena Popova from Russia. Proving an original eye-catcher alongside the exciting collections, new colour concepts and modified stand design was the lounge with its airplane interior in collaboration with the airline partner LTU who flew designers in to the grand event!

Double-track Approach This was adopted by exhibitors in the CONCEPT 11 area in Hall 11, one component of New Womenswear: presented here were strong fashion brands also represented at Düsseldorf showrooms with a second platform in a relaxed setting. The success of this service-oriented idea reinforced both the image of the Igedo Company as the organiser and that of the labels exhibiting here: brands like Carling, Ana Scott, Sandwich, Another Woman and Blacky Dress using this second platform were gratifyingly rewarded with great interest and orders from their many customers who no longer had to take a shuttle off into town.

Separate Setting WHITE & NIGHT was presented separately in its own hall: in the elegant, atmospheric setting of Hall 15 around 100 established exhibitors – including the likes of Ian Stuart, Fabrio Gritti, Miss Kelly, Divina Sposa and Corina Gertz - presented a clear overview of current bridal and evening fashions, men’s festive wear and accessories.
Also presented here for the first time in an exclusive exhibition was the cream of Spanish bridal wear designers – an event culminating on the Sunday in a cocktail party. The White & Night shows and the presentation of the Young Bridal Design Award proved further crowd-pullers!

Creative and Different The creative and different FASHION GALLERY gained further importance as an international trend platform with its avantgarde designers, exclusive designer labels and newcomers. Alongside individualists like Gesine Moritz, Evelin Brandt, Sonja Marohn and Anett Röstel, Scandinavian designers like Trine Kryger Simonsen, Marimekko and Aniki Karvinen plus renowned newcomers like Caractere, Renate Harvan and Uli Schneider injected fresh impulses here. Anja Gockel - London celebrated the company’s 10th anniversary with an extravagant couture show.
Alongside the daily fashion shows the presentation of the Design am Rhein Award – a competition organised by the Igedo and karriere magazine - was a special event attracting great novelty interest: the winners of the day were Nadine Möllenkamp, Anna Eindorf, Andrea Klüsener and Maxie Rosenkranz.

SHOW TIME!
A new concept, new fashion and two reasons to celebrate! And the supporting programme - a colourful mix of designer défilés, trend shows, awards, info-events and parties - provided the perfect opportunity to combine fashion talk, feeling and fun.

Kicking off the shows were the Createur-Schauen on Sunday featuring Anja Gockel, Beate Heymann, Annette Görtz, Kapalua and Hucke AG with their new catwalk collections setting the stage for the new season. Also providing initial order information were the daily CPD shows running throughout the event at the Show- Center in the Hall of Design in Hall 17 focusing on the trend themes elaborated by the Igedo in conjunction with the DMI: Desert Song, Working Girl, Pretty Baby and Mediterranean Summer.
Unconventional designer fashion was presented in the Catwalk-Café of the FASHION GALLERY and the exhibitors in the NEW DISCOVERY segment could also be re-discovered daily along with their collections on the catwalk. And while the D.-Party held on the grounds of the exhibition centre on the Monday evening tempted fashionistas to stimulating beats and fashion talk, the presentation of the PETRA Fashion Awards, the highly popular VOGUE cocktail party and the BUNTE New Faces Award provided top-class entertainment in the city itself!
